A little slice of our summer...

Whew! It's been awhile since I updated this, but not as long as I thought. Summer went by so very quickly, and it was so very different than last summer. We actually got to travel and see people! With building our home in 2008, we didn't go anywhere that summer. We spent most of Jonathan's ten weeks of vacation traveling. Our first trip was a BMW reunion at my parents' home (see previous post), the second was to southern California, and the third was for our 8th anniversary.

Somewhere in the middle of July we left for southern California. We saw many friends, family, and attended a wedding of a friend of Jonathan's from high school days. One of the highlights of that trip was being able to visit our old church family from our San Diego days. It was great to again see our brothers and sisters in Christ who attend Grace Fellowship of San Diego.

In August, Jonathan and I left the girls with my parents for three nights so we could get away for our anniversary. We hadn't been away since before Katie's birth, so we were excited to have this time alone. We reserved a little cottage on Tomales Bay (an hour north of SF), right over the water. It was very charming, rustic, and cozy. We spent our days window shopping and finding fun places to eat and get coffee. One day we took a 9.5 mile hike out on Tomales Point. It's an elk reserve, and so we got to see these animals pretty close up. We hiked until we could go no further...Tomales Point trail ends with a rocky outcropping into the ocean where only seals and birds dare to venture. It was lots of fun, but we were so tired and sore after that long hike!

The week of our anniversary ended with a stop in Davis, CA at our good friends' home. The Shields wanted to treat us girls from church to some time together, so we went out to eat, went to see "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and took the kids to Fairytale Town. It was such fun, and I am so thankful for dear friends to spend time together.

Now, we are back in the swing of school. Jonathan's charter school grew in numbers this year, which is a prayer request Jonathan had. He is excited about the school year and what the Lord will continue to do at Rocky Point.

In a little over a week we will gather at the Shields' home again for Spencer (their son) and Lindsay's wedding. I am busy trying to finish making their wedding programs, guest book, and seating cards. I am having fun doing this, and looking forward to the big day. Katie will be a flower girl, along with her cousin, Lilly, and Jonathan will be singing and playing along with Melissa, our church pianist.

I am loving that the weather is turning "fallish". It is my favorite time of year. Maybe it's due to my birthday being this month. My sister and friends through me a surprise early 30th a few Sundays back. I was very blessed by that.

Happy fall to everyone! Make some apple cider and go leaf jumping!
